Interoperability & Integration
Implementing HL7, FHIR, DICOM standards for reliable connectivity and data exchange.
An engagement should start with the systems involved, the people responsible for them and the outcome the organization wants to achieve. Agree the work, dependencies, acceptance criteria and operating responsibilities before implementation. The scope and deliverables below are discussion points, subject to the requirements of each project.
Planning the engagement
- Inventory participating systems and supported interface versions
- Define identity, terminology mappings and exception handling
- Agree security, reconciliation and end-to-end interface tests
Questions to resolve
- Which interface standards and versions do both systems support? Record capabilities and required implementation guides before choosing the exchange.
- How will patient identity and local terminology be reconciled? Assign responsibility for mappings, duplicate records and rejected messages.
- What happens when an exchange fails? Test retries, reconciliation and recovery in the receiving system with approved test data.
Service requirements, credentials and project evidence can be discussed during a consultation. The published information describes areas of work; it does not promise a particular outcome or service level.
